OORJAgram India as a last mile Generation Based Distribution Franchise (GBDF) having 60% revenue share as Private Player and 40% to State Discom. “GBDF model” will inculcate the features of existing Model of “Input Based Distribution Franchise (IBDF)”, to make sure whatever is the consumption at the Incoming Meter of last mile villages, and equal amount of energy is pumped back through Outgoing Meter into the SEB Grid generated locally. The 60:40 arrangement will ensure that DISCOM will also be an active player in supervising and also sharing the upside. OORJAgram India would deploy capital in order to build infrastructure for Power Generation and Distribution efficiencies locally. Such efficiency-based arrangement would substantially reduce the perennial subsidy burden on govt. In fact, the State Government can allocate more capital for the targeted community thereby rightly performing its social & political role. The existing bench strength of DISCOM at Last mile can be deputed with OORJAgram India Pvt Ltd and incentive based arrangement can be worked out for dual benefits, i.e. continuation of their State Employment Status as also being incentivized for “loss reduction” causing the conversion of special funds into grants. This will help the GBDF reduce the initial resistance from the employees and help the last mile consumer excepting the changes too. OORJAgram India Franchise Model? OORJAgram India franchise model is designed keeping the distribution companies in mind. It will be coming along with a plan where the entire focus will be on separating content and carriage in the electricity business at the last mile. We intent to establish a Solar Generation Centre equal to the amount of estimated consumption in the targeted village from the last step down Transformer, thus maintaining the power backup for essential services as well as feeding back to the SEB Grid constantly. On behalf of the SEB, the appointed state distribution companies will be allocating villages in their jurisdiction area to OORJAgram India in order to manage 24/7 * 365 days of distribution, billing and collection. In return, the franchise will completely overhaul the existing LT distribution network to ensure an 24/7 * 365 days of uninterrupted power supply through localised Generation and Backup along with prepaid business model for intended collection on electricity dues for the period of contract it signs with the state electricity distribution for the particular village.
