Greenwear is an enterprise that specialises in environment friendly high-quality textiles aimed at creating market access for yarns produced by rural women using Solar Charkha (compact spinning machine powered by solar set). Greenwear evolved from the pilot project of Mission Solar Charkha (Launched by Ministry of MSME on 26th June 2018) implemented by Bhartiya Harit Khadi Gramodaya Sansthan (A society certified by Khadi and Village Industries Commission established in June 2018). Through its common facility centre based in Safedabad, Barabanki; Greenwear provides job opportunities to 282 artisans involved in tailoring activities and 488 women artisans through chikankari hand embroidery. At present, Greenwear has market linkages with leading womenswear brands of India e.g. Aditya Birla Group of Fashion and Reliance Retail Limited through their brands e.g. W for Women, Aurelia, Folksong, Livesmart, Indie Pick etc. Currently, the enterprise supports khadi and village industries with efficient supply chain, technology and market development opportunities. The product range of Greenwear envisions having zero defects in quality and zero effect on environment. Greenwear products are made using renewable energy resources. Since the quality of fabrics is modified version of that of Khadi fabrics, Greenwear is launching new segments where the breathability and softness of fabric is needed such as maternity-wear, kidswear, innerwear and hospital-linens.
