7. We are going to produce customized medical aids specially orthosis using 3D printing technology. Currently we are focusing on Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO). Ankle foot orthoses AFOs are external biomechanical devices used on the lower extremities to stabilize the joints, enhance the gait, and improve the physical function of the affected lower extremity. By providing foot clearance, Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are employed as supporting devices and aids for ambulation during various gait stages. When used for children, different types of materials can be changed based on how they will be used and how the person will grow. They are made of thermoformed plastic, which makes it easy to make changes and adjustments. Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are sometimes used as night splints to prevent contractures in people who have had a stroke, spinal cord injury (SCI), or have cerebral palsy. The 3D scan of the patient’s foot will be obtained, then customized Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO) will be designed using free software. This file will be converted to .stl file which can be used in 3D printer. Printing of AFO will be done in Fused Deposition Modelling based (FDM) 3D printer by fixing the process parameters for optimum results.
