Aatm Nirbhar is a pioneering social venture dedicated to creating gender diversity in the mobility sector. Co-founded along with my mother, Rekha Khandelwal, in 2017, our mission is to empower women by providing them with the skills and opportunities to become mobile and economically independent. Over the past seven years, we have developed an asset-light, digital marketplace that has successfully trained over 20,000 women across 15 cities in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi-NCR. Our innovative approach has also facilitated employment for more than 250 women, and over 90% of our beneficiaries have reported enhanced safety, frequency, and flexibility in their travels.
We are proud to be recognized by Start-up India and to have been incubated by HSBC Bank. Additionally, our efforts were supported by funding from the Pernod Ricard International Foundation through IIM Calcutta at the critical time of Covid-21.
Our business model is unique as it is the first by-women, for-women initiative in India’s mobility sector, focusing on empowering women to become self-sufficient in driving and last-mile logistics. As we expand, we aim to create a nationwide network of women entrepreneurs who will continue to champion this mission in their communities, driving both gender inclusion and economic growth.
